Living near woods, wetlands and water
- Small biting insects: near wetlands and water, a finer 20×20 mesh on the walls where you sit can be worth the small loss of airflow. See the screen options guide.
- Wildlife: animals trying to get in or out are a common cause of torn low panels. A taller kick plate and tear-resistant screen below the chair rail make those panels harder to damage.
- Debris: wooded lots put more leaves and small branches on screen roofs. Keep overhanging limbs trimmed by a qualified tree service.
City of Oviedo or Seminole County?
Within city limits, the City of Oviedo’s Building Services reviews building plans and performs inspections. Some addresses with an Oviedo mailing city are in unincorporated Seminole County, which has its own building division. We confirm which applies to your parcel.
Kick plates, doors and keeping animals out
Most wildlife entries happen low on the walls or around doors that don’t close fully. A door closer that pulls the door shut every time, a latch that catches reliably and a sweep at the bottom help. If the door is part of a pool barrier, keeping it self-closing and self-latching matters for safety too; see screen doors and hardware.
